Lumpkin County High School is leading the way in rural cybersecurity education! Thanks to our partnership with Georgia Tech’s Rural Computer Science Initiative, CEISMC, the University of North Georgia, and the GA Dept. of Education, our students now have access to a hands-on cybersecurity unit built on Raspberry Pi devices. This program—first inspired by GenCyber—teaches real-world skills like password security, social engineering, and ethical hacking.
With 1,000 Raspberry Pi 500s purchased for classroom sets, Georgia Tech is implementing this unit in computer science classrooms across rural Georgia. They will be deploying staff via live Zoom lessons to support the teachers. Pictured below is the inaugural cohort of 65 rural computer science teachers.
We are proud to help prepare the next generation of cyber defenders right here in Lumpkin County! #Cybersecurity #STEM #RuralCS #LumpkinPride
