Congratulations to Ms. Spencer's Homeroom for achieving an average of 98.18% attendance this week and winning the first week of our homeroom attendance madness challenge. Keep up the great work!

Check out the good work going on in Coach Rhodes's class!
We did our walk lesson today which is an argumentative article about how awe walks make people happier. The article explains how 2 groups were asked to take a 15 minute walk each day, but one group was told to have a childlike wonder to the environment around them as they take the walk. The study showed the in “awe” group were much happier than the other group. I had the students assess their mood/well-being before the walk with claim and reason statements. They had to re-assess themselves when we got back from the walk with a new claim and reasons to support the claim on why their mood improved or regressed. So far every student said they were in a better mood after the walk.

The LCMS Chorus received straight Superior ratings at Large Group Performance Evaluation today! Great work everyone!

We had a great night of entertainment from the LCMS chorus tonight! Both the 6th and 7th/8th grade gave amazing performances! Great work to Mr. Martin and our singers!
Also check out the student leaders, JP on guitar and guest conductor, Rocky. We are developing leaders each day at LCMS!

LCMS students visited Sliceability last week. Sliceability is a new pizza restaurant in Cumming which employees persons with disabilities and provides a safe and welcoming environment for all patrons. It was so much fun to support their mission and eat some great pizza!

If you missed our fabulous art show tonight, you have another chance on Monday before the band concerts at 5:30!

Check out 6th grader, River's, work in progress in art!

Don't forget that Tuesday is Early Release Day for students. We will dismiss at 11:30.

Today in 7th grade ELA, students had class debates as part of their argumentative unit. Students worked in teams to develop an argument over a given topic then presented it to a jury of their peers. The importance of addressing and rebutting the opposing arguments was evident throughout the debates.

LCMS students have the exciting opportunity to travel to Costa Rica with Ms. Foley in Summer 2025! This trip will connect amazing experiences with science and cultural learning. Congratulations to Hank Corbin who had the amazing opportunity last weekend to perform with some of the best middle school singers in the state in Athens at All Stare Chorus!
Hank successfully completed a rigorous audition process to be selected for this honor. Great work to him and our chorus teacher, Mr. Martin!

6th graders are learning about the harmful effects of tobacco today from volunteers with the Tar Wars program. We appreciate our partnership with Drug Free Lumpkin 365 to provide this important info for our students!

Mrs. Head's reading classes are doing some travel planning today as they read brochures from areas of interest around the region.

The Leader in Me language is starting to seep into the culture at LCMS. Students have talked about fixed mindsets vs. growth mindsets during character ed, and one of our 6th graders used that great vocabulary when writing in her ELA class about some literature she had read. We're excited about the potential of this framework to help our students become their best selves!

It's Random Acts of Kindness Week! Today we watched this video about showing empathy to those with less than us or who are being bullied. This skill is so important and can help change the culture, simply supporting others who are going through a tough time is one of the best ways to demonstrate kindness.

It's Random Acts of Kindness Week! Today, we watched this video and started discussing what kindness means. Try to keep it going at home, encourage your student to demonstrate kindness and model it by doing something nice for a neighbor or friend.
