2nd Graders – It’s Time for R³: Reading Rally!

On Thursday, November 13, 2025, our 2nd graders will join us at Lumpkin County High School for a fun-filled literacy event! Students will meet author Eric Litwin, enjoy interactive reading activities, and each child will receive a Pete the Cat book to take home.

Back at their elementary schools, all students in PK–5th grade will participate in Drop Everything and Read, celebrating literacy and taking time to enjoy books together.

A big thank-you to the Dahlonega Sunrise & Noon Rotary Clubs and Lumpkin County Schools for making these events possible!

John Megel Chevrolet will have several brand new cars at BES on October 24th, the day of the Fun Run event, for adults to test drive. John Megel will be donating $25 for each test drive, up to a maximum of $500, to BES. The test drive event will be located on the blacktop behind the lunchroom.

Our Student Council is collecting cans to help families in our community. Please help us reach our collection goal of 500 cans of green beans! We love that our students have the desire to serve!

Our Book Fair is in full swing! Please stop by and visit our Media Center to peruse all the exciting books! Also, please keep in mind that we do not accept cash or check. Blackburn was honored today by a visit from State School Superintendent, Richard Woods. He came to present the Math Leader Banner to our school for the amazing growth we had last year in math. This growth is determined by our Georgia Milestones math scores and we want to congratulate our teachers for the wonderful job they are doing teaching math to our students.
