Lit Trip
Several students from the Mock Trial Team were able to watch the Georgia State Court of Appeals hear oral arguments during the Court's visit to UNG's campus. Afterward, the students were able to ask questions of the judges concerning their experiences with past cases, legal insights, and advice about attending law school.

The frogs were donated by the Retired Teachers of Lumpkin a few years ago, we are still enjoying them. Dr. Alldred’s anatomy class went from dissecting pickles a month ago to dissecting frogs, we have sheep brains next!

Congratulations to LCHS junior Jack Fox for being selected to attend the Governor's Honors Program in the area of Engineering Design. Jack will join 600 other talented students from around the state in various academic and artistic focus areas for a 4 week residential, immersive experience at Georgia Southern University. In addition, LCHS junior Jonathan Wright has been selected as an alternate in the area of Jazz-Acoustic & Electric Bass. These students were selected from over 4,200 nominations and 1,200 semi finalist interviews from across the state of Georgia. Congratulations to Jack and Jonathan!

The LCHS Mock Trial team competed in District Trials on March 2nd at the UGA Law School in Athens. Outstanding Attorney Awards went to Kayleigh Dyer and Maxwell Charriez. Outstanding Witness Awards went to Leah Basso, Layla Rose Mellius-Paddick, and Caroline Schmid. CONGRATULATIONS to an amazing group of students!

LCHS would like to congratulate our Young Georgia Author winners for 2024. Each of the writings were fantastic which I am sure made it difficult for our judges. These district winners have been sent to Pioneer RESA for the RESA competition. Mrs. Swift and Coach Estenson’s classes were busy with labs this week. Their biology classes created models of mitosis using Oreos and sprinkles. Their environmental science class compared r and k reproductive strategists by blowing bubbles and working to keep them alive as long as possible. It was a good week in science
