Mrs. Hill’s 9th grade English classes recently finished reading “Night” by Elie Wiesel. Mr. George Richfield, a Holocaust survivor, shared his story as a young boy living in the ghetto and then staying with a Christian family who protected him during the war until he and his parents were reunited. Also, Mr. Michael Rackstraw from the Bremen Holocaust Museum shared stories from the Holocaust as well as historical background information.

Spice Queens! Sophia, Angel, and Emma complete Señor Rambin's "spice challenge" where they smell eight spices and try to decide which is which. In this unit students are studying Cuban culture and identifying ingredients from different parts of the Caribbean.

The Lady Indian wrestling team traveled over seven hours to Mobile, Alabama, this past weekend, for the Gulf Coast Clash. These ladies walked away with a first-place finish as a team, defeating several top ranked teams from both Georgia and Alabama. Finishing behind the Lady Indians were Carrollton (2X Defending GA state champs,) Daphne (Defending AL state champs, nationally ranked), Thompson (Defending AL runner ups), and Central (Defending AL runner ups) and Enterprise (AL). These ladies had 6 girls in the semi finals out of 11 weight classes. Individual placements are listed below. "Congrats to the LCHS Faculty for winning the annual Student vs. Faculty Volleyball Game! Organized and coordinated by the Student Council, this is our third year putting on the event. All ticket sales from the game go towards supporting Adopt-a-Family, over $600 was raised! Amazing LCHS!"

From trucks to tractors! Lumpkin students traveled to Forsyth Fleet Maintenance to learn how to keep a large fleet of machinery in operation and maintained.

The LCHS Rifle Team competed in their first away match of the season on Thursday, November 12th at North Gwinnett High School. The match was different from typical matches due to it being on paper targets instead of the electronic targets of which they are accustomed. Lumpkin won the match with a score of 1124 to North Gwinnett’s 1095. The individual scores, beginning with the highest, were: Jr. - James “JT” Wright (291), Jr. - Brynn Foster (285), Sr. - Eliza Phillips (283), Jr. - Joe Dechant (265), and So. - Liam Kearney (261). Also participating in the match for experience and using sporter rifles were Fr. - Ivy Stowers (224) and Fr. Allan Schneider (216). Coach Wright said, “The team has shown quick improvement. They are growing as a team and showing a desire to learn.” The teams’ next match is on Tuesday, November 19th at home against Buford High School.

LCHS hosted the state-wide PROBE College Fair Tour and had 45 different colleges on campus for our students. Students had the opportunity to explore these different colleges, speak with admissions representatives, and learn more about available programs and career paths.
