In seventh grade ELA, students have been reviewing and analyzing the parts of an argument. This week, students participated in class debates over dress codes and cellphone usage at school. Students also acted as jury members, deciding who had the most logical arguments and rebuttals.

Check out Coach Rhodes's 7th grade ELA lesson! "Today we read an article about how an “awe” walk can make you happier. A study was done and in the article it explains how one group was happier than the other when they went for a walk and took the time to enjoy and appreciate their surrounding environment. We read the article and wrote a claim, reason and counterclaim statement about the article’s findings/research. After the article activity, we went for a 10 minute walk to see if the claim was true for ourselves and then we came back to rewrite a new claim/reason for how we felt after the “awe” walk. The kids were laughing, smiling and enjoying it. I was amazed at how much fun they had today and how engaged they were when we got back to finish the activity."
